This is SOOOOOOO cool. For people who work from home and have little self control (pointing at myself) the office pod is perfect for you. Oh and it is also green.
Creating a home office greatly reduces your work carbon footprint by eliminating greenhouse gases created during travel and commuting. The 2.1m x 2.1m British OfficePOD is an inventive design that allows workers to have a home office without all the associated high construction costs.
Easy to install in your garden or larger property, the self-contained OfficePOD (except for power generation and toilet) does not require planning permission in most locations and the modular design means speedy installation. Perhaps best of all, being an OfficePOD employee means there is an estimated 46% to 67% reduction of CO2 emissions versus a traditional office employee’s work-related carbon footprint.
The POD offers a desk space, shelves, connection for telephone and internet; and each POD corner office has its own window. The OfficePOD will be available in January 2010.
If you regularly look through the window then you know I was a huge West Wing fan. Along with just being a good, smart, funny, and well written show, it did its part to explain some of the workings of the Washington beltway. Well today while watching the news I got a real treat. In my mind I can convince myself that the Bartlett administration is still out there working for the little guy. President Jeb Bartlett, Toby Ziegler, and Josh Lyman or rather their real life counterparts Martin Sheen, Richard Schiff, and Bradley Whitford lent their celebrity to the “Faces of the Employee Free Act” movement on Capitol Hill today. Seth McFarlane was born and raised in Kent, Connecticut October 26, 1973. He is best known as the creator of the television phenomenon Family Guy.
Seth McFarlane is one of the ultimate fan boys. As with most he was a class clown whose comedy was not appreciated by his teachers. He graduated with a Bachelors in Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design and his first job was with Hanna Barbera. At H.B. he worked on many Cartoon Network shows as an animator and writer. His work there led to the beginning of the building of his empire starting with Family Guy, for which he provides several of the voices, and currently working on the spin off, The Cleveland Show. As of a deal he currently made with FOX Seth is the highest paid television writer in the world.
So Seth McFarlane., please accept this invitation to the Dinner party of the year. Your opinion, your diversity, and your geekiness are more than welcome!

There was a point in time when I did not own a television. Truth was I didn’t need it, I had my computer. At some point in the last three years pretty much every show I watch regularly was available on the net. Somehow I was able to get use to that much quicker than I was webseries. Don’t ask me why, it makes perfect sense. The internet has put your average Joe on the same playing field with Hollywood, but I still seem a little hesitant about them. However I came across one series a few weeks ago that might be changing my mind.
The production values are not the best (some sound issues and swinging boom mikes) and they don’t have a huge budget but the stories are solid and the acting is believable, and in the end isn’t that what you really want?
The series I speak of is “Drama Queenz”, a new comedy webseries about three actors and roommates dealing with life, love, and auditioning in New York City. The show is produced by a company called Novu Novus productions. Because I have nothing else to compare it to I have to put it in the same genre as “Noah’s ARC” from logo, but much more enjoyable. Like I said the stories are solid and are much more believable than it’s higher produced contemporary.
From the Drama Queenz press release:
“Each ten-minute webisode focuses on Jeremiah, a dreamer with ridiculously poor audition luck, Davis, a perfectionist whose hard work produces uneven results, and Preston, a realist whose inhibitions stir-up delightful “drama” for all to enjoy. Through madcap auditions, burgeoning romances, and heartbreaking realizations, the trio from Queens takes viewers on the zany rollercoaster ride that is the actor’s life.”
If you get the chance take a an hour and half pop some popcorn call some friends and check out the eight episode first season and send the production company a thumbs up. You’ll be glad you did!
Well honestly they have not been "just for kids" in many years but I digress. The NY Times Art Beat released the list of top 10 Graphic trade paperbacks as of March 21st. They are....

8 SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE UNIVERSE, by Bryan Lee O’Malley. (Oni Press, $11.95.) Can Ramona’s twin ex-boyfriends be defeated? Sounds like a job for… Scott Pilgrim.
9 SHEENA QUEEN OF THE JUNGLE, Vol. 2, by Stephen E. de Souza and Rebekah Isaacs. (Devil’s Due Publishing, $18.99.) The jungle queen uncovers deadly Nazi secrets in ValVerdeCity.
10 WALKING DEAD, Vol. 9, by Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard. (Image Comics, $14.99.) The gripping story of the human survivors in a world overrun by zombies continues.
A couple of things that I think should be pointed out, especially to editors at Marvel and DC. The two DC books on the list are both from the 80's which means those stories are still reaching out to folks ,maybe more so than the summer flash bang storylines you have been churning out lately. For Marvel entertainment who has 3 books on the list, 2 are alternate universe books both of which where written by J. Michael Straczynsky and the other by Joss Wheadon who has his finger on the pulse. I'm just saying!
Slow news day for me today, just a few take out the trash items....
Happy Birthday to Quentin Tarantino he made two of my favorite movies. Kill Bill and Jackie Brown
From Sci Fi Wire- “With more than 5,000 crime fighters and villains in its library, Marvel Entertainment is assembling a group of screenwriters who will pen scripts for various properties Marvel wants to develop, Variety reported. The writers' group will be similar to that created by the fellowship program the Walt Disney Co. has been running since 1990. That group enlists a dozen writers to work with creative executives to develop films for the studio and TV shows for ABC, the Disney Channel and ABC Family.Marvel will invite up to five writers each year to work on specific projects, a source familiar with the deal told the trade paper. Those could include staffers behind Marvel's comic books. The company will provide the specific pitches it wants the writers to tackle. Those could involve certain plot points for movies already in development or characters it would like to see on its future film slate.” One of my favorites on Cartoon Network Ben 10: Alien Force closes its second season tonight after a long Ben 10 themed week. Word is that season 3 Ben 10 Evolutions (working title) has already been green lit for next year. President Obama called the Bailout CEO’s to the White House for a “talking to” At the end they came out and stated “were all in this together”. Well not really and not quite and honestly I am tired of hearing them say they get it, then they do something ridiculous! LOGO has greenlit a second season of the network's breakout reality hit, RuPaul's Drag Race, which is set to air in early 2010. A mash up of America's Next Top Model and Project Runway, the competition series searches for "America's Next Drag Superstar" and is hosted by renowned drag queen RuPaul. The first installment of the series was the three-year-old network's most successful series launch and drove LOGOonline.com to its highest traffic levels ever.
And with that I am calling a full lid for the weekend. See you all monday have a good weekend!
