Why I have opened the window!

Amerykah has turned a corner and we should all turn with it. I have thoughts ideas and suggestions but I also have patience and desire for us to be whole and one. I have been speaking a lot lately of the human condition and the generations of Black Americans. i will entertain any and all conversation as long as we can be respectful and grown up. Let the healing begin......

Happy Birthday to Debbie Reynolds & Rachel Maddow

Sony announced they plan on bringing back the Men in Black series. Maybe third time will be the charm. No word on if Tommy Lee Jones or Will Smith will be returning.

Someone at FOX leaked an almost full and complete copy of the upcoming X-Men prequel X-Men Origins: Wolverine on the internet. It is reported that it has already been downloaded about 750,000 times today alone. The only thing missing from the movie is a few special FX shots. Poor FOX.

Justin B. Smith a resident of Silver Springs, MD and a fellow blogger was recently interviews in Gay Life Baltimore’s GLBT newspaper. The interview discusses his Vlog about living with HIV.

After 72 years CBS has cancelled “The Guiding Light”. Now I am not a soap head, I had a brief flirtation with “All My Children” back in the mid 90’s but the Natalie got her sight back on Christmas day and…well I digress. I remember my Great Grandmothers soap line up and the Guiding Light was part of it. Makes me think of her so it’s worth a mention.

Back on the hometown front, Michael Jordan (who I don’t believe still lives in Chicago) has joined Mayor Richard Daley’s campaign to bring the 2016 Olympics to Chicago. I am still very much on the fence about this as I am not sure how it will affect residents in the long run.

And that is about it for today….Thank you all for checking in. I am calling a full lid for the day!

Tomorrow will be the series finale of the American version of “Life on Mars”. When will Hollywood learn, stop trying to recreate success from British shows that are not reality based…your not brave enough!

Luann de Lesseps, the countess from "The Real Housewives of New York” got dumped by her husband “The Count”. Seems he feel in love with an Ethiopian beauty! She says she is going to keep her Countess title!

The Unemployment Olympics were held in New York on Tuesday. A laid-off computer programmer came up with the idea to lift spirits of the jobless with events including Pin the Blame on the Bosses, a telephone toss and a race to the unemployment office.

Facebook Inc. said its chief financial officer, Gideon Yu, is leaving the Internet Company and that it has begun searching for a replacement with experience at a public company. The move is the latest shakeup in the executive ranks of the closely held Palo Alto, Calif., company, whose employees and investors are anxious about Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg's plans for the social-networking site.

Whoopi Goldberg will undergo therapy live on U.S. TV to cure her fear of flying.
The aviophobic actress hasn't flown for a decade, but an upcoming business commitment in London means she has to step on a plane once again.
Goldberg will undergo a special course on talk show The View tomorrow courtesy of Virgin Atlantic boss Sir Richard Branson.

And that Ladies and Gentlemen will do it for us at Derrick’s Window. Were calling a full Lid. See you tomorrow!

Full Lid Slow news day!

Slow news day for me today, just a few take out the trash items....

Happy Birthday to Quentin Tarantino he made two of my favorite movies. Kill Bill and Jackie Brown

From Sci Fi Wire-
“With more than 5,000 crime fighters and villains in its library, Marvel Entertainment is assembling a group of screenwriters who will pen scripts for various properties Marvel wants to develop, Variety reported. The writers' group will be similar to that created by the fellowship program the Walt Disney Co. has been running since 1990. That group enlists a dozen writers to work with creative executives to develop films for the studio and TV shows for ABC, the Disney Channel and ABC Family. Marvel will invite up to five writers each year to work on specific projects, a source familiar with the deal told the trade paper. Those could include staffers behind Marvel's comic books. The company will provide the specific pitches it wants the writers to tackle. Those could involve certain plot points for movies already in development or characters it would like to see on its future film slate.”

One of my favorites on Cartoon Network Ben 10: Alien Force closes its second season tonight after a long Ben 10 themed week. Word is that season 3 Ben 10 Evolutions (working title) has already been green lit for next year.

President Obama called the Bailout CEO’s to the White House for a “talking to” At the end they came out and stated “were all in this together”. Well not really and not quite and honestly I am tired of hearing them say they get it, then they do something ridiculous!

LOGO has greenlit a second season of the network's breakout reality hit, RuPaul's Drag Race, which is set to air in early 2010. A mash up of America's Next Top Model and Project Runway, the competition series searches for "America's Next Drag Superstar" and is hosted by renowned drag queen RuPaul. The first installment of the series was the three-year-old network's most successful series launch and drove LOGOonline.com to its highest traffic levels ever.

And with that I am calling a full lid for the weekend. See you all monday have a good weekend!

Full Lid

As my favorite fictional Press Secretary use to say at the end of the day “ That’s a full lid!” which meant that unless something huge happened there was no more news for the day. So I decided to adopt the same things here at The Window. The things I find interesting that don’t need a full blog entry.

Happy Birthday to Hair Diva Diana Ross!

Also a happy birthday to one of my favorite pop culture aliens, Leonard Nimoy who played Mr. Spock on Star Trek.

I read today that there is a Nutty Professor III in the works. What the hell?

Dragon Ball Evolution The movie based on the long running Anime has had it’s opening pushed back from April 8th to April 10th (Personally they can push it back to never for me…it looks too much like Jump and Push)

Fear dot Net has a 37 minute series called “Stream” starring Whoopi Goldberg. It’s no so much scary as interesting and a little freaky, but I enjoyed it.

And that ladies and gentlemen is a Full Lid ……
