If you need anymore proof that the past Presidential election was a long one, it has only been four months since Phil Gramm uttered those unforgettable words “You’ve heard of a mental depression; this is a mental recession”. He then went on to call Americans a “Nation of whiners” which caused John McCain to have to “disappear” him from the campaign. The unemployment number rose this month to reflect about 10.1 million whiners...err I mean Americans without jobs. The good news is that it’s all in your mind.

Thru out history there have been leaders and there have been traitors. You know those trusted seconds in command who the leader fins out way to late that always had their own agenda, and it usually involved getting the person they answered to out of the way. Jesus had Judaist, Caesar had Brutus (and the Roman senate), and John McCain has Sarah Palin.



I know I know you say “you just hating on Sarah!” but let me plead my case. From a very early age I was always taught that if you let people talk enough they will tell you everything you need to know about them. Well I am gonna start with the slip of the tongue. Sarah Palin referring to the Palin/McCain ticket. At the time it made one news cycle cause at the end of the day it was funny. She was just coming off of one of her many media flubs.



Then there was the open ended admonishment of her campaign’s decision to pull out of Michigan, She openly questioned the decision and stated that she would have been more than happy to go win back, the day after the announce was made. Then there are the rallies, and while after a week of feeding and fanning the flames of hate, John McCain is trying to pull back the hate,while Sarah Palin is pushing on revving up the crowds into an Obama hating frenzy.



Another more telling statement that “Hockey mom” is more than what she appears is her defiance in answering for her actions. While it may be true that the McCain camp has kept her news appearances short and brief, her personal responses to questions are often dismissive as is her body language. The latest of course is “Troopergate” which has been ruled that she abused her powers as Governor. The only reason there was a committee formed to look into troopergate is because she declined to cooperate in the first place. Everything in this woman’s behavior kind of says that she is not use to being questioned. And very dangerous attitude to have of late when this country has been living under a “Don’t question my decisions” attitude in DC for the last 8 years.


Sarah “Barracuda” has had a smell of power and I don’t see her letting that go anytime soon. Mark my words America and remember this day, whatever comes of November 4th we will not have heard the last of Conqueror Sarah Palin!

Lets ask the experts (Part 1)

As many of you know, of late the McCain/Palin rallies have seemed to turn into out and out hate fest. Whipping the audience into a frenzy with the question “Who is Barack Obama?” followed by talking points that rev the crowd up in a fervor, which has led to folks yelling “Terrorist” and “kill him”.

Today John Lewis came out with a warning that things were looking all too familiar to him. Since his early 20’s John Lewis was taking political stances, from the march on Washington to House of Representatives, this southern native has witnesses America thru 3 very important parts of its history. Born in Nashville Tennessee in the early 40’s he was there for the beginning of the southern civil rights movement, he worked and fought in the fight for civil rights in the 60’s , and he continued on to see the after effects of the struggle even to this day.

So when someone who has literally witnessed first hand, the divide this country has been thru when it comes to race, one would think we would all listen. John Lewis has compared the McCain/Palin attacks in their rallies of late to the campaign tactics of George Wallace, a former Governor of Alabama who ran fro President 7 times. It was during one of these races that George Wallace created such an atmosphere of hate and segregation that it resulted in a church bombing killing 4 little girls in Alabama.

John McCain is apparently outraged at the comparison and feels it is a character attack from the democrats. The Republican Party has requested that the Obama camp issue a statement denouncing the claims of Rep. Lewis. I am sure most of you have seen McCain’s attempt to tone down his supporters, who came in to the rally already turned up so high, that the booed him when he tried to speak fairly over Obama.

As I post this in the various places I post I am sure I will receive (as I have the past few) comments stating that these things are not racially motivated. So before you get ready to hit respond let me ask the question to all my non readers of color. Excluding using the “N” word please tell me when it is ok for Black people to think that something is racist? I mean I know that racism is geared toward us, we live with it every day, we toil thru it when it happens to us. It clearly this does not seem to qualify us to call it out when it happens. So you tell me what the criteria is? Or better yet, tell Representative John Lewis, the 68 year old black man born in the heart of a segregated America.

Who the Fuck is “That One”?

As many of you did this evening I settled in for the second Presidential debate/first town hall meeting. Everything was going along fine. There was the usual points/counter points being made and As Obama was looking young energetic and knowledgeable, McCain seems at times to be teetering (literally) across the stage while trying to engage the audience.

The conversation turned to Energy and McCain in his old time folksy jokeresqe speech began to discuss who voted for a failed energy bill. He then referred to his opponent, a fellow senator as “That One”!

Screech Freeze Put on the Breaks! What did he say? Who the fuck is “That One”! Let me tell you a little something about me. I was raised by my grandmother, back in the days when you could whoop/beat your kids within an inch of their life for displaying behavior you deemed inappropriate. My grandmother was also the main person in me learning to read. Which in turn lead to my love of speaking and writing and all other things literate. She would have never ever (I have proof) allowed me to refer to anyone as “That One”. She would deem it rude and disrespectful and she having grown up in West Virginia racist. She would have in fact slapped the taste out of my mouth!

That One huh???!!! I mean someone explain to me how in this race where we have skittered along the cusp of racism on so many little levels. We have made it thru the Obama the terrorist, Rev. Wright hating America, and Michelle being proud of her country for the first time, terms of elitism, calls that Obama is uppity, lipstick on a pig, what on God’s green earth would allow anything in you to refer to your opponent as “That One.”

Well that is it, I am done! I gave some money to Obama 08 but now I am going out door to door. I am searching the net for blogs supporting McCain and those undecided and I am doing everything possible to make sure that this (possible) racist as far away from the White house as possible.

Also before he ran out of the Town Hall (his strong suit) he refused to shake Obama’s hand when they all met in the middle of the room.

From the Horses Ass...I mean mouth!

So I do have something in common with old Johnny McCain.

I am a child of the 80’s, and was it ever a great time to be a child. I mean yes there was Presidents Reagan and Bush (1) but that didn’t matter much to me. There were music videos and boy bands and men dressing like women making great music. One of those great music makers was El DeBarge of the DeBarge family. He like so many others from large groups stepped out on his own and didn’t do bad. One of my favorite songs from him (which years later turned into my break up song) “Turn the Page” from his second solo project “Gemini”.

I thought it was a dead on choice for when I needed to get over and move on. Well it seems that the song works for John McCain as well. Who knew? I mean honestly, if you had asked me if John McCain was a El DeBarge fan I would have said “Does he think that is one of his gardeners?”

But McCain has decided that he is going to turn the page on talking about economics. It seems it’s a sore subject with him and as he has plainly stated in the past, not his best subject.

I am not even going to get into the fact that the idea of someone running on a platform of relating to “Joe six-pack” (whoever the fuck that is) who is looking for answers and help being turned the page on.

No I am going to talk about character, I am going to speak on the hero and all I have heard about Johnny Boys days as a POW. Now I have never been in the armed service so I have nothing but respect for those who chose that route. These are some great folks. I have an ex who was a Sgt. Major in the army and for about a year I lived in an army town.

All the John McCain POW stories I have heard is how he was broken and bruised and even when the opportunity to leave came up he said “Not without my daughter!!” (Sorry old Sally Field reference.) Now you’re running for President of the United States and when the going gets tough, when the economy you claimed was so strong is collapsing around us like a forgotten temple around Indiana Jones, you want to turn the page?

Well I will tell you what. Let’s do that Senator McCain. If we can turn the page on the economy then let’s turn the page on the Iraq war. STOP!!! FINI!!!!! DONE!!!!! Bring everyone home right now. I am sure the American public is tired of our kids our parents out brothers and sisters dying to liberate a country that has asked us to Get Out like five times already. But NO, can’t do that. One year or one hundred, cause this is something you like, this is something you can get your mind and hands around.

Well Senator McCain, I can’t wait for November 4th to come. Hopefully we will be able to “Turn the page “on you. And trust me, on that day I will not be playing El Debarge in your honor!

McCain tries to back out of upcoming scheduled debate….Take 2

His numbers down, his message failing, John McCain decides he does not want to debate, so he cancels his scheduled debate with Governor George W. Bush. Oh did you think I was talking about the upcoming debate with Obama?? According to this Article from the San Francisco Chronicle dated Monday Feb. 28, 2000

“With new polls showing his campaign dead in the water among California Republicans, Arizona Sen. John McCain has pulled out of a long-scheduled debate with Texas Gov. George Bush, set for Thursday in Los Angeles.
McCain campaign officials tried desperately yesterday to put the best face on their withdrawal, even as a new Field Poll showed Bush far ahead among likely Republican voters in the winner-take-all race for the state's 162 GOP delegates.
Top campaign officials attributed McCain's decision to Bush's earlier reluctance to appear at the debate.
``We had agreed to do this debate a long time ago, and Gov. Bush said he wasn't going to do it,'' McCain spokesman Howard Opinsky said yesterday. ``We aren't going to hold our schedule together forever.''

8 years ago when John “The Maverick” McCain was running against then Governor George Herbert Walker Bush for the republican nomination, he cut and ran. Here we are again, McCain is down in the polls, losing the precious numbers he gained at the convention, and trying to backpedal from last weeks assurance that are economy is strong, Senator McCain has decided to lead by calling a time out.

I am not sure that his big gesture is sending the message of leadership and bipartisanship that he intended to send. It seems more like an old man that can only deal with one crisis at a time and with all the troubles are country seems to be going thru at this time we need a leader who can multi-task.

As someone who has built his campaign base on being the all American hero, The P.O.W. that would not say die, the changer and reformer, this story begins to paint a very different picture. Check any history book in the last 8 years and you will see that this particular tactic didn’t work 8 years ago and if everyone is paying attention it will not work today. While it is documented that he is less than proficient with “The Google” it seems that he is very familiar with the “Pause” button.
